Feedback Thoughts

The first article is "Neil Gaiman's advice on the creative life". It encourages you to make mistakes in order to succeed. The repeating quote is "make good art", no matter how bad the situation, always give your best work, do what you are good at. Feedback is there to show you what you did write and/or wrong so you can be greater and greater as time goes on. That's the problem with schools, kids only get to hear that they passed or failed and then the subject changes.

The second article is "Why it's so hard to hear negative feedback" by Tim Herrera. Why is it hard to receive bad feedback? Because we're bad at giving it. When we give someone feedback we usually lack honesty because we don't wanna be too harsh. There is a problem on both sides. You don't want bad feedback nor do you want to give someone a negative, life ruining response. We are afraid of this negative reaction that will make you o someone give up on a project or assignment or whatever, completely instead of learning and improving. Bad feedback shrinks our ego and ruins our self-esteem. We can't look at negative feedback and think "that's it I'm done", that's the easy option. Instead we need to learn from our mistakes, life goes on.
